DVD Camcorders

Remember the VHS? That old thing you have sitting in your basement, collecting dust. Back in the day, you would record shows on it by using a tape and then watch the tape. Yup, those were the good old days. And if you're really old (but maybe not so good!), you would remember using a Beta Machine!

Well, the VHS and the VHS tape are slowly going the way of the dodo. Now, people are using digital recorders or PVRs to record and watch their favorite shows. This digital revolution has also expanded into the camcorder. In the old days, a camcorder used a tape to record the event or images. Then, you would play the tape in the VHS or VCR! Today, you can get a digital camcorder that can upload movies right on to your computer's hard drive. But, if you want to take your movie with you, you can get yourself a DVD camcorder.

Since DVDs have replaced VHS tapes as the media of choice for home viewing and entertainment, DVD camcorders allow people to record their movies and stick them on a DVD that can be played in most, if not all DVD players. This allows for greater convenience and flexibility. In the old days (again with the old days), you had to have a bunch of wires and connections to hook up the old-style camcorder to the TV. Now, just pop in the DVD into the DVD player, and you're ready to go!

DVD camcorder technology isn't perfect, and there are still some bugs to be worked out. DVDs offer limited space, compared to old tape technology, and if you scratch the DVD, your recording is finito! That said, DVD camcorders have dramatically improved over the years. And even though only a few electronics companies and manufacturers - namely Sony and Panasonic - are building DVD camcorders, they will become more and more popular, prevalent, and available as time goes on.
