How a camcorder works

Ever wonder how a digital camcorder works? How the images get from real life to the bright LCD screen of the video camera, and ultimately on your television? Camcorders have changed the way we document, remember and share the most important moments of our lives. That being said, how do they really work? Well, here's a simple, point-by-point explaination.

-A digital camcorder has three parts: the camera to focus in on what your shooting, a section to record the information and a device that takes the visual images and converts them to bytes of data and information.

-How a camcorder works is that it records the data and then stores it in a binary code. With an old style video camera, that information would be stored in an analog format that would be stored on a videocassette.

-The bytes that the camcorder saves have a variety of benefits. The most important of which is that you can reproduce the video as many times as you like without compromising the integreity or quality of the movie itself. How a camorder works is that it can save onto a Mini DVD, or onto a flash memory card.

That, in a very small nutshell, is the basic premise of how a camcorder works. For most people though, they aren't really interested in the nuts and bolts of the device. All they care about is if it can record all the important moments of life. And that's all that matters anyway.
