Refurbished iPods

If we all had our way, everything we ever purchased would be brand new. Brand new car, brand new house, brand new clothes - everything. Because, well, let's face it, nothing really beats something that's brand new, now does it? That being said, there are many instances where we can't purchase something new, so we purchase a used one, like a car. For other items, though, you can get something that's refurbished, instead of new. Like an iPod.

Now, there is a difference between refurbished and used. A used item is something that you purchase as-is, scratches, warts and all. When you purchase a used item, you are taking a substantial risk in terms of quality and functionality. That is NOT THE CASE with a refurbished iPod.

A refurbished iPod is one that's been used, then carefully inspected, repaired or replaced and then put back on the market for sale by a store or online retailer. But, refurbished has many definitions when it comes to an MP3 player.

For example, an iPod that was purchased, used once and then returned is considered refurbished. An iPod that was a sample product is a refurbished item. Yes, there are instances where the portable digital music player was used heavily, then inspected and repaired, but not all refurbished iPods fall under that category. In many cases, a refurbished iPod has excessively light, if any, usage or mileage on it.

The biggest benefit of purchasing a refurbished iPod is, obviously, price. A refurbished iPod, while just as high in quality when compared to new music players or portable audio players, can cost substantially less versus a brand new, never been used iPod. In all cases, the iPod has been carefully checked out and fixed only by those qualified to do so, and not by someone with grade 10 electronics under his belt.

More and more people are choosing to go the refurbished route than brand new. The quality is the same, the prices are definitely not the same, and the selection is just as good, if not better, because some stores offer discontinued versions of the product - like the iPod.

If you are considering getting yourself an iPod, do some research and locate the most reputable online retailers out there when it comes to refurbished products. You will be surprised at the quality and deals that you will find.
