Playstation CD-Roms

Most Sony Playstation video games use Playstation CD-Roms. So, what exactly does that mean? The term CD-Rom stands for Compact Disc Read Only Memory, which, at first glance, if you are not technologically intelligent (like me), you have no clue at all as to what that means.

But, in simple terms, CD-Rom means that the CD that the Sony Playstation game is on (and most Playstation games are stored on CDs) can also be accessed by a personal computer. Now, this is important for a variety of reasons. First of all, having a Playstation CD-Rom allows Sony greater range and access for its products and games. Can you imagine trying to fit an old-style Nintendo cartridge inside a computer? Impossible; but a Playstation CD-Rom lets users choose where they play the game.

Playstation CD-Roms are also great because that allows Sony to be able to add more goodies to the CD-Rom that it would if they were only using a conventional CD.
