The Xbox 360
One of the most anticipated home video game consoles that has even been developed, researched and marketed is the Xbox 360. Since the Xbox 360 was launched to the North American gaming market and community on May 12, 2005, it has skyrocketed towards the top of the best selling video game list of all time! Think about that: in less than two years since its release, the Xbox 360 has outsold almost all of its competition!
It's estimated that Microsoft - the company that makes and manufactures the Xbox 360, has sold approximately 11,000,000 units all around the world. And of that eleven million, around 4.5 million consoles of the Xbox 360 have been sold in the United States alone. That is a tremendous number of units sold in such a short period of time. And when one looks closely at the Xbox 360, it's easy to see why it has been - and continues to be - such a popular home video game console and system.
A unique factor of the Xbox 360 is its unique and distinctive appearance. More streamlined and slimmer than its predecessor, the original Microsoft Xbox, the Xbox 360 is white and concave in its form, while the first Xbox was black and convex. As well, the distinctive ring of light that dominates the front end of the Xbox 360 console is a unique and helpful feature as well. Whenever that ring of light is displaying the color red, that means that the Xbox 360 has encountered a technical problem or issue. Without that ring of light, how would people otherwise know that something was wrong with their Xbox 360?
