The 2007 summer blockbuster movie season looks like it might just go down as the biggest, most fantastically amazing, unbelievably awesome, coolest and best movie season in the history of movies. With sure-fire hits like Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Harry Potter whatever and Transformers, it looks like 2007 will definitely bring in the big dollars. However, all that money generated from those movies aren't limited to the silver screen.
As soon as those movies are relased, maybe even before, cross-media marketing will begin. Each movie will have a hit theme song that you'll be encouraged to download on your iPod Nano. Of course, you'll also have to play the official video game on your Xbox 360 . If you just can't take the time to sit at home and play, you can enjoy the Sony PSP version of the movie game. Don't forget getting the newest trailer sent to the digital camcorder display feature of your cellular phone too.
Even though all these movies will be playing in theaters, people are simply going to see advertising and marketing for them wherever they go. And more interestingly is that people will be exposed to movie marketing as well, regardless of what type of electronic device they decide to use. It does not matter if you use an iPod Nano , you'll get some kind of marketing sent to you. If you visit your favorite store or refurbished electronics retailer looking for the hottest game for your Xbox 360 , you'll see posters promoting the official video game of the movie all over the store. And the same rings true for the Sony Playstation Portable as well.
The devices we use today are now places where we are bombarded with information, rather than just devices for entertainment. The new Harry Potter video game for the Sony PSP might have snippets of the film placed in there in order to entice the viewer to check out the movie itself. And maybe commercials for the new Harry Potter movie might have a website posted where people can download the latest theme song onto their Apple iPod Nano. And don't forget the constant barrage of ads that ask people to text a phone number in order to get the latest Harry Potter trivia game sent to the digital camcorder display feature of their cell phone.
It all boils down to being connected in today's modern world. If you are connected with an iPod, Playstation Portable or an Xbox 360, you can and will be reached. Now, being subjected to all these advertisements and media messages are one thing, but reacting to them altogether is a subject best saved for another day.
